Chris Stewart Group has been shortlisted in four awards categories at this year’s Scottish Property Awards, including Property Company of the Year and Deal of the Year.
The national competition, which celebrates public and commercial property across Scotland, is now in its sixth year and attracted entries from 60 firms across Scotland.
As well as being finalists for Property Company and Deal of the Year, Chris Stewart Group’s The Edinburgh Grand has been shortlisted for Development of the Year and Regeneration Project of the Year. Having opened in June 2018 The Edinburgh Grand showcases a two year planning process and a meticulous two year restoration and renovation.
Marie-Jane Gray for CSG commented:
This neo-classical masterpiece and former bank building had seen number alterations and despite its prominent position on St Andrew Square, had been neglected, unused and latterly listed on the ‘buildings at risk’ register.
Its redevelopment represents an innovative re-imagining of the space that retains the building’s art deco style and authenticity whilst ensuring it has contemporary context and relevance. Externally, the building has regained its stature. Internally, the apartments and rooms have been individually shaped and by the quirks of the building, with original features retained and design elements hinting at the building’s past but with a simple, modern elegance.
The Edinburgh Grand fulfils a gap in the city’s accommodation offering; its ground-breaking combination of luxury apartments – as opposed to rooms or suites – with brand-led bar and restaurant options, gives Edinburgh’s hospitality sector a vibrancy and competitive edge.
A panel of judges, led by Fiona Morton of Gillespie Macandrew, will announce its winners at the awards dinner on 28 February in Glasgow.
