Courtyard by Marriott, Edinburgh
The second Courtyard by Marriott to open in Scotland and third in the UK as a whole, Chris Stewart Group’s recently completed hotel development has enjoyed a very successful first year of business. Located on Baxter’s Place at the top of Leith Walk, just to the east of Edinburgh city centre, the hotel offers 240 bedrooms located across three original A listed Georgian townhouses and a modern extension to the rear.
Once home to Robert Stevenson, lighthouse engineer and grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, the townhouses have been vacant and neglected for more than a decade. As with all its developments, CSG was mindful of this heritage from the outset and has acknowledged it through artwork on display in the public areas and bedrooms, as well as a bust of Stevenson displayed in the entrance.
The hotel offers accommodation and facilities for everyone – business guests, tourists and local residents – with a fully-serviced meeting room, excellent wifi provision, ample seating areas and a welcoming brasserie and bar, The Lantern Room, offering all day dining from early breakfast through to late dinner.
